Standard Ethereum accounts (EOAs) can only use ECDSA. Changing this requires a hard fork. ERC-4337 bypasses this limitation by moving signature verification into smart contracts. Any signature scheme — including ML-DSA, SPHINCS+, or hybrid PQC — can be used without waiting for Ethereum protocol changes.
BMIC’s smart accounts validate both classical ECDSA and post-quantum ML-DSA signatures through a bundler network. The user signs with their PQC key, the smart account verifies the signature, and the transaction executes on Ethereum. The PQC key material never appears on the base layer — it exists only within the smart account’s verification logic.
Traditional account abstraction still exposes public keys in UserOperations. BMIC adds a signature-hiding layer that masks the public key before it reaches the bundler. This Zero Public-Key Exposure is unique to BMIC and eliminates the HNDL attack vector that other AA wallets still face.
